Depends on budget and setting. Though I always prefer 2d, it can look like crap without a budget or creativity.

They're different mediums with different pros and cons, really. Don't forget puppet animation as well. And cutout animation, though I can't really name any studio doing that today besides the 魔女 sequences in Madoka. I like both, it's just a bit sad when one or the other gets pushed out of the running altogether. Companies like Disney are rich enough to easily be making both 2D and 3D movies, ||instead they're increasingly trying to not even do those 3D movies and prefer live-action movies with 3rd party studios doing the SFX||. 😭 Which also brings up one big point, cost of entry. You just need a bunch of people who can animate, paper and camera to make a 2D movie. It will take a lot of blood, sweat and effort, but even a bunch of friends in a garage can make a short movie that will blow your mind. 3D is not like that at all. The bigger the server farm you have, the more amazing effects you can produce. But who has a server farm to render 200+ days straight for a movie on hand like that? Almost nobody. And even if you get all the assets from the real movie to use, your lower budget production is going to look really bad and cheap. There's just no way to get around that horsepower requirement without getting an inferior movie/series. While in 2D art it's just the skill of the individual animators and the amount of time you give them.

Nah 2d is better most of the time Only exception is stuff thats like a mix of 2d and 3d like a unqiue artstyle for cgi Spiderman into the spiderverse

I don't prefer it, but I think the bad reputation CGI seems to have earned itself is way overblown and outdated. Yes there definitely was some bad CGI in the early days, but over time it's earned its place alongside traditional animation with excellent works like the Spiderverse movies, Arcane, Nimona and many others.
