Art is what keeps society moving. It can, however, hurt society if it's consumed by people that aren't meant to see it, AKA people who are very sensitive to graphical content, for example.

How it benefits or hurts society depends on the context. Art can provide an insight into many different worlds and cultures and inspire people to create and better themselves.

Art is a form of practical wisdom or foolishness uniting in skill and knowledge giving form to truth of reality in a language accessible to our senses. It is not an end in itself, but ordered towards a goal.

Art is society. One cannot exist without the other. Therefore, the harm that art brings to society is the cruelty of existence irrevocable.

Art creates a reflection of our society, our world, our lives. This can become a positive or negative reflection, but art also holds truth. A art piece is never finished.

Depends, if you’re living in a third world country where your fighting to survive then art has no benefit to society cause it doesn’t meet any physical needs. Aside from that basically what everyone else has already said.

Benefits? A lot. Hurt society? Yes, in a way. Art has been used to promote peace. Art has been used to promote war. For instance.
